service

I had the pleasure of taking some pics to help out Esther with a project she is currently tackling (you can view those here). Essentially the task was to capture images that define or relate to service. I found this a daunting assignment, for portraying such an idea through art was stimulating for me yet surprisingly difficult. The job got me thinking a lot about what service is, and as I rolled through potential images in my mind, I was confronted with a hard truth over how much I have and how much others lack. And then I had to ask myself, "well, what is service to me?" it was interesting to come up with my own definition and my own list of examples. Here are a few things:

meeting a need
action
repair
restoration
working for someone freely
aid
help
caring
ministering to someone

I think it a good idea to come up with you own definition or ideas behind this word. It proved a blessing to me to meditate on the idea of service. I pray that as believers we start or continue to move toward what this word really means. After all, Jesus was the greatest servant of all, and aren't we trying to be more like Him?
