1. twenty degree sleeping bag really means forty degree sleeping bag.
2. don't spit into the copper canyon. it comes back.
3. wear sunscreen (even if you have colombian skin).
4. when in doubt, use the phrase "esta bien."
5. just because the local kids can run up and down the mountain really fast at 9,000 ft. doesn't mean that i can.
6. hair can do amazing things when unwashed for six days.
7. highschoolers do not make good traveling companions for ten hours chunks in a day.
