my all time favorite list on McSweeny's "lists" :

Things I'd Rather Do Than Go See Catwoman.
BY BENJAMIN KHARAKH

Build a sandcastle for the sole purpose of having it kicked in my face.
Fall from a reasonably high ledge.
Swallow several Legos.
Rip a dollar into three unequal pieces.
Buy an expensive pair of pants and then spill grape juice all over the crotch.
Fill out a Mad Libs and then eat it.
Have a colonoscopy.
Wake up very early and go running.

i posted a few of my picture from mexico. you can check them out here.

"stuff i learned while in mexico"-- a list, by gennie davis

1. twenty degree sleeping bag really means forty degree sleeping bag.
2. don't spit into the copper canyon. it comes back.
3. wear sunscreen (even if you have colombian skin).
4. when in doubt, use the phrase "esta bien."
5. just because the local kids can run up and down the mountain really fast at 9,000 ft. doesn't mean that i can.
6. hair can do amazing things when unwashed for six days.
7. highschoolers do not make good traveling companions for ten hours chunks in a day.

viviendo la vida de servicio: Mexico bound.

i leave thursday early evening for el paso, then on Friday our teams drive into chihuahua. please pray for us if you remember.

also, i would like to mention that i am constantly plagued with "g key" problems. recall the open letter to a person or thing unlikely to respond that i wrote several months back:

"dear g key,

i cannot even begin to tell you of the agony you have caused me these last few weeks. perhaps you cannot see the great importance you hold, as you assume you are just one small key in the midst of 87 others. but you are not, my dear key, unimportant. in fact, you are quite pivotal to any musical production that takes place on my piano. you are middle g.

what has caused you this unfortunate fate? why must you play but only once or twice after being struck and then resort to a tiresome mission of soundless vertical motioning? why must you rebel, when all others comply?

i have tried endlessly to get you to behave in the manor you should. i have pryed, with my two-toned flat head screw driver, between you and your F and A neighbors, hoping you will eventually cease this persistant sticking. yet you fail to oblige despite my greatest efforts of persuasion.

what are you hiding down there? is it peanut butter? the moldy remains of some liquid from years ago? or is it just the accumulated dust from years of neglect while in our old garage? take heart, g key! know your worth, your value! you are immensely vital to the musical delights of my hand!

i hope that one day you will come to your senses and unstick yourself.

sincerely,

gennie davis "

well, today i am having serious problems with the "g key" on my keyboard. in fact, i've been having problems with it for a while. it keeps popping off. don't know why it decides to do that. why must i be plagued with bad g key!? little keyboard g key, come back to life.

two of my new interests are jazz and tea. erin bought me a beautiful teapot for my birthday.

i am unabashedly addicted to caffeine.

lazy bird by john coltrane. take me away to the weekend with this song.

stuff

if you know me well enough, you know that i love going to the fayetteville public library. however, i'm starting to witness a depletion of materials i find desirable enough to check out. i should have foreseen this, considering they have some what of a limited selection of cds... i guess that means i'll have to venture into other genres of music.

lately i've enjoyed catching the show on e! called #1 single. it stars Lisa Loeb-- you know that really hip and cool girl from the 90's with the cat eye glasses. she is fabulous. the show is about how she is single and living in NYC, but no worries, its nothing like sex in the city. in fact, i find it endearing and delightful to watch. plus, you get to hear all the songs she is working on. i like her music.

in other news, i've raised all my support for mexico. thanks, God. and thanks everyone who contributed financially. you're a blessing.
